Turban Trauma

Ever since Elizabeth Hurley got married a few years ago, and I caught a pic of my man Tom Ford in a turban, I’ve been a little traumatized by this enduring trend. Can real people pull off this look? It seems to be an everyday, every event type of fashion accessory, and on some women, it looks hot. Of course, on some women, anything looks hot.

Save my occasional hot oil treatments where my wet, oily hair is wrapped in Target bag, I’m fairly certain that the turban is not for me. I feel like if I attempted to rock it high-fashion style, people would think that I had forgotten to remove my curlers. The world of fashion continues to be on the other side of this fence, and who can blame them? When people like the fabulous. edgy Solange Knowles are making it look good, I can’t argue their logic.

Only you, Solange. If I tried this, my peeps would load me up in the crazy wagon.

You know all the blue-haired old ladies with their satin turbans from Sears are like “Oh NOW you want my look!” Yes, mummies and grande dames, your closet isn’t the only thing being ransacked for your coveted vintage. We are now after your head.

Major pops of color.

I like the red-on-red with the lips.

Hmmm...I love Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. With her face, anything goes. I suppose.

As always, my thinking with anything related to style is, DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. And you never know…you may see me strutting through Union Square working a turban. Hey, it could happen!

love, love.love a turban…’can’t believe you didn’t post a pic of “the boss” Ms. Diana Ross from Mahogony; a virtual turbanfest!

I can’t believe it either! Except I’ll save all things Diana for the upcoming post on my fashion icons…I love her! Thanks for the reminder :)

When I finish with an evening of make up, I look like Zep with your blue shadow – help!
